MV "BBC Olympus", the fifth vessel of the new 9.600 tons heavy lift series has been delivered and established into the freight market for BBC Chartering & Logistic.

Hereby the new series, which contains eight vessels, Briese Schiffahrt opened the second chapter. The first chapter was the heavy lift series which vessels were delivered in between 2002 and 2009. This series consists of eight identically constructed heavy lifter with 7.700 dwat, two heavy lift cranes with lifting capacity of each 250mt (including traverse 500mt), heavy lift strengthened and portable tweendecks .

Especially in the project market the requirements are very high. Therefore, this type has been developed based on own experiences in freighting as the vessels has been modified so that they are able to keep up the requirements even more.

Because of the technical specification and high quality of construction the result is the realized project which is capable of adapting to the current market requisitions.

Roughly the following changes have been made:

The loading capacity was increased from 7.500 mt up to 9.600 mt with still low draft so that the vessels can be employed very flexibly.

The lifting capacity of the deck cranes have been increased from each 250 mt (including transverse 500 mt) up to 350 mt (including traverse 700 mt).
