Since 2010 Briese Schiffahrts GmbH & Co. KG (Leer) assigns in cooperation with the Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research (Warnemünde) the 'Briese-Award for Marine Research'. The award, assigned annually, honours excellent doctoral studies in the field of marine research with results that are closely related with the operations of research vessels and the application and development of technique and/or data collection at sea.
