At the beginning of 2005 Briese shipping company acquired a big part of the former 41,000 m² Jansen-shipyard area to revive the shipbuilding activity in Leer. Through this development the new “Nessewerft” shipyard arose.

Up to now several steel processing and electrical companies have settled at the shipyard. This makes it possible to offer not only the standards of a usual shipyard but also many kinds of maintenance work and services for generators. The service providers who are located at the shipyard are proficient and successful as a result of their collaboration with each other. Therefore all requirements are achieved by efficiency, inexpensiveness and convenience.

So far five cargo ships were altered from diesel to heavy fuel oil. Further reconstructions have already been booked. The first newbuilding vessel of this shipyard will be finished by the end of 2008.

After complex investments and reconstructions were made the slipway of the “Nessewerft” shipyard is in use again. Now it is available for several repairs as well as maintenance work. Alternatively, numerous places for berthing are offered at the shipyard.
